WILL OF ABRAHAM STERRY,
HUNTLEY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, 1844
This is the last Will and Testament of me ABRAHAM STERRY of the parish of Huntley in the County of Gloucester Labourer whereby I dispose of all my worldly estate in the manner following that is to say I give and devise unto my nephew JOSEPH STERRY of the parish of Longhope in the said County of Gloucester Farmer all that my messuage Tenement or Dwelling house together with the garden and close or parcel of arable land thereunto adjoining and belonging situate in the parish of Blaisdon in the County of Gloucester aforesaid and now in the occupation of my tenant WILLIAM WILLIAMS to hold the same with their appurtenances unto my said nephew JOSEPH STERRY his heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless to the payment of the legacy or sum of one hundred pounds to my nephew JOHN STERRY of the said parish of Longhope mason at the expiration of twelve months next after my decease. I give and devise unto my nephew SAMUEL STERRY of the parish of Blaisdon aforesaid butcher and farmer all that my messuage tenement or dwelling house together with the garden and orchard thereunto adjoining and belonging situate in the parish of Longhope aforesaid and now in the occupation of my tenant JOSEPH WILKES to hold the same with the appurtenances unto the said SAMUEL STERRY his heirs and assigns for ever. I give and devise unto my neice SARAH STEPRY of the said parish of Longhope spinster all that my cottage or tenement with the garden and appurtenances thereunto adjoining and belonging situate at a place called Ashwood in the said parish of Blaisdon and now in the occupation of my tenant PETER FLETCHER to hold the same and every part thereof unto my said niece her heirs and assigns for ever. I give and devise unto my great nephew ABRAHAM STERRY of the Lea Bailey in the Hundred of Saint Briavels in the said County of Gloucester all that my cottage or tenement with the garden thereunto adjoining and belonging situate at the Lea Bailey aforesaid now in the occupation of my tenant JOHN DAVIS to hold the same with the appurtenances unto the said ABRAHAM STERRY his heirs and assigns for ever. I give and bequeath unto my nephew EMANUEL STERRY all my estate and interest in the cottage or tenement in which I now reside with the garden thereunto adjoining which I now rent of and hold under JOHN PROBYN Esquire. I give and bequeath unto my said niece SARAH STERRY my best bed and two pair of sheets and all the rest and residue of my household goods and furniture plate linen and china. I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said nephew EMANUEL STERRY his executors administrators and assigns for his and their own use and benefit and as to all my ready money debts due and owing to me at the time of my decease and all other my personal estate not herein before disposed of I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said nephew JOSEPH STERRY his executors and administrators subject nevertheless and I do hereby charge and make the same subject and chargeable to and with the payment of all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and also the legacies or sums of money following that is to say to my neice the said SARAH STERRY the legacy or sum of eighty pounds. To my nephew the said EMANUEL STERRY the legacy or sum of nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings at the expiration of twelve months after my decease and to MARY the daughter of my said nephew JOHN STERRY, CHARLES and JOHN the sons of my nephew CHARLES STERRY late of the parish of Longhope aforesaid Haulier deceased the legacy or sum of ten pounds each to be paid to them on their severally attaining the age of twenty one years. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said nephew the said JOSEPH STERRY sole executor of this my last will and testament and I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other wills and testamentary dispositions by me at any time or times heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this sixteenth day of November One thousand eight hundred and forty three.
Signed published and declared by the said ABRAHAM STERRY the testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us, who at his request, in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witness thereto

Appeared personally JOSEPH STEPRY of the parish of Longhope in the County of Gloucester Farmer and alleged upon oath that the foregoing paperwriting contains the last Will and Testament of ABRAHAM STERRY late of Longhope aforesaid Labourer deceased who died on the 17th day of November 1843 leaving goods chattels and credits wholly within the Diocese of Gloucester and Bristol under the value of Two Hundred pounds that he is the sole executor therein named that he will xxx and faithfully perform the same and under an Inventory and account. Wherefore he prayed probate.
