WILL OF ANTHONY STERRY,
LYDNEY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, 1627

 
 Deed of Gift

To all Christian people to whome these presente shall remaine? ????
of Lydney in the countie of Gloucester sendeth greeting in our Lord God ?????
know of mee the said Mr Anthony Sterry a deed? for the love & affection? wch I ????
beare unto William Sterry of Ruardeane in the said countie blacksmith my brother’s sonne ????
as at fordebert? other good causes con---? methereunto finally ?????
to, have given granted & confirmed and by these presented ????????
had confirmed unto the said William Sterry all my chattles implements of household?
stuffe beastes and cattall and all other my goodes and debtes of all chattels???
personall moveable and immoveable whatsoever of one of my best??????
to have and to hold all the said bequestes implements of household chattels? Beastes
and cattall and all other my goodes and debtes of all people personall moveable
or immoveable whatsoever of except before excepted to the said William Sterry
his appointed? administrators and assiignes to his? and heir proper bye and
to be nevertheless it is fully concluded condesended and agreed by and betweene
the said priest to these people in manner and forme followinge that is to saye
that it shall and may be lawfullto and for the said Mr Anthony Sterry at
all and every time and times hereafter during that life naturall precently? And
quietly to have the overall intereast and proffitte of all the said bequestes
implements of househod stuffe beastes and cattle and all other my goodes and debtes

overall as personall moveable and immoveable whatsoever --- that maybe?
lawfull lest sute? trouble expulsion or incumbrance of him the said William
Sterry his expenses? or administrators or any other pson or psons w hatsoeve r?
gning? from by or under him these dispute owing --- therein ------
to the contrary in any wise notwithstanding IN Witness whereof I the said
Mr Anthony Sterry have hereunto sett my hand and seale the foure &
twentieth day of August in the yeres of the raigne of our sovereign lord
James by the grace of god king of England Scotland Ffance & Holland
defender of the faith or that is to saye of England Ffrance & Holland the
xxth and of Scotland the six and fiftieth anna dmi 1622

Rev Anthony Sterry is on the Ruardean line. He was baptised 1546 in Ruardean, Gloucestershire and died Spring 1627.)
