Noverint Universi per presentes nos Stepanus Batharidge de Coreley in Com[itis] Salopia Blacksmith et Thomam Bodle de Ludlow in Com[itis] pr[aedic]t yeoman teneri et firmiter obligari Reverendo in Christo Patri ac Domino Domino Herberto permissione Divina Herefordiensi Episcopoin quadraginta libris bona & legalis monetae Angliae, solvendis eiden Reverendo in Christo patri, aut suo certo Attorno, Executoribus, Administatoribus, successoribus, sive assignatis suis: Ad quam quidem solutionem bene & fideliter faciendam obligiamus nos et utrumque nostrum per se pro toto & in solidi Heredes, Executores & Administratores nostres firmiter per praesentes, sigillis nostris sigillat. Dat. vicesimo octivo die mensis Novembris anno regni domini nostri Caroli Secundo die gratia Angliae, Scotiae, Franciae & Hiberniae, Fidei Defendoris decimo sexto annoq domini 1664

[Know all men by these presents that we Stephan Batharidge of Coreley in the county of Salop Blacksmith & Thomas Bodle of Ludlow in the same County Yeoman are held and firmly bound to the Reverend in Christ Our Lord Herbert Holy Father Bishop of Hereford forty pounds of good & lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Reverend Father in Christ or his certain attorney executors administrators or assigns for the true payment whereof we bind ourselves and each of us by himself for the whole and every part thereof and the heirs, executors and administrators of us and each of us firmly by these presents. Signed with our seals. Dated twenty eigth day of the month of November in the sixteenth year of the reign of our Lord Charles the Second by the grace of God Ruler of Great Britian France & Ireland Defender of the Faith in the year of Our Lord 1664.]

The condition of this obligation is such that if the abovebounden Stephen Batharidge the uncle & administrator of the goods of Edward Stary late of Coreley in the County of Salop & diocess of Hereford batchelor do and shall well and truly administer the same. That is to say do pay the debts of the said deceased which he did owe at the time of his death, so far forth as the said goods, chattels and debts will thereunto extend and as the law will charge him. And also do make or cause to be made a true and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods, chattels and debts of the said deceased and the same do exhibit or cause to ne exhibited into the registry of the above named Reverend Father in God the Lord Bishop of Hereford at or before the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin next ensuing the date hereof. And also do make or cause to be made a true and just accompt of and upon his Administration in the permises at such time and when as he shall be thereunto lawfully required. And the rest and residue of all and singular the said goods, chattels and debts, which shall be found remaining upon his said accompt examined and allowed in due form of law, do distribute and dispose to such person and persons, and in such manner and form as by the saud Reverend Father in God the Lord Bishop of Hereford, or his Chancellor or other competent judge in that behalf shall be orered, limited and appointed. And lastly, do at all times hereafter save harmless and indemnifie the said Reverend Father in God, and his Vicar General and Register, and other his Officers and Ministers, against all persons whatsoever claiming any right title and interest in the goods, chattels and debts of the said deceased. That then this present obligation to be void. Or else, to stand and remain in full force and vertue.
