WILL OF ELIZABETH STARY, TENBURY, 1736

 

In the name of God Amen I Elizabeth Stary the elder of Tenbury in the County of Worcester and Diocess of Hereford Widow being in health of body and of sound and perfect mind & memory thanks be therefore given to Almighty God do make and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.  First of all I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping by and thro' the meritorious death & passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to receive remission of sins and my body I commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named & for what worldly goods it has pleased God to endow me with I give and bequeath in manner following.  First of all I give to my daughter in law Elizabeth Stary my trunkle bedstead warming pan lesser brass pan iron pot one spilt[?] one pair of course sheets one blanket one elbow chair one hogshead two half hogsheads one  barrel one kneading shell[?] one tinpastry pan and all my cider & drinkables & eatables and also the sume of forty shillings in cash in case there happens to be so much in my custody at the time of my decease.  Item I give to my grandson Thomas Starie my furnance the shelves and coffer in the shop the shelves and coffer in the pantry my bedstead at the head of the stairs one large trunk & the standard thereof my cratch[?] pewter frame benches & shelves in the kitchen trans[?] & shelves in the cellar one large pewter dish two small pewter dishes one square table one pewter tankard two pikes one bill and axe  five peires of timber in the barn my wheelbarrow kipe[?] tile and firewood in the barn. Item I give to my granddaughter Elizabeth Hall one bed and bedframe & two blanketts one pair of my best sheets one table cloth one pillows bier half a dozen of napkins & one trunk. Item all the rest and residue of my goods chattells and personal estate I give to my daughter Elizabeth Hall and her assigns for ever and I likewise constitute & ordein her sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all other Wills by me heretofore made ratifying and confirming this & no other to be my last and to this my last Will I have put my hand & seal this eighth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & thirty three. The mark of Eliz Starey Signed sealed published & declared by the Testatrix as her last Will and Testament in the presence of Hannah Norgroo & Thomas Nokes Bn Morris

This Will was proved at Ludlow the 25th day of May in the year of our Lord 1736 before the worshipful Edward Wynn Doctor of Laws Vicar General and Official principal of the right reverend father in God Henry by divine  permission Lord Bishop of Hereford lawfully constituted by Elizabeth Hill[sic] the Executrix therein named she being first sworn upon the holy Evangelists duly to fulfill the same and to exhibite a true and perfect inventory of all & singular the goods chattells and credits of the s[ai]d deceased.
