WILL GEORGE STERRY, BUNGAY,
SUFFOLK, 1791
In the Name of God Amen. I George Sterry of Bungay in the County of Suffolk Cordwainer being of sound Mind and perfect Memory and Understanding do make ordain publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say, First I give and bequeath unto my Niece Ann Wade of Bungay aforesaid the Wife of Daniel Wade now or late of Bungay aforesaid Whitesmith all that my Messuage or Tenament wherein I now dwell together with all and singular the Lands Hereditaments Rights and Privileges of and thereto belonging and appertaining situate lying and being in Bungay aforesaid, or elsewhere in the said County to hold unto her the said Ann Wade and unto her only notwithstanding her Coverture during the term of her Natural Life: Provided always and upon Condition that the said Ann Wade shall and will from Time to Time and at all Times during her natural Life keep up and maintain all the bequeathed Messuage and every part thereof together with all the Fences thereto belonging in good and Tenantable Repairs. I also give and bequeath unto the said Ann Wade all my Moneys and Securities for Money and also all and singular my Household Furniture and all my other Goods and Chattels whatsoever and wheresoever which shall be in my possession or in anywise belong to me at the time of my Decease to hold unto her for her own proper Use and Benefit and to give sell and disperse of according to her Will and Pleasure except what is before excepted after first paying all my Just Debts Funeral Charges and all incident whatsoever and I do hereby declare that my Mind and meaning is and I do hereby order and direct that the said Daniel Wade her said Husband hath not nor shall not during his natural Life have any Command Control nor Power over all or any part or parts of the said bequeathed Messuage Lands Hereditaments Rights and Privileges thereto belonging and appertaining nor over all or any parts of the said bequeathed Moneys Securities for Money nor over all or any of the aforesaid bequeathed Goods Effects and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever. But my Mind and Meaning is and I do hereby order and direct that Debts of what kind soever which shall be owing to me at the Time of my Decease shall become due and payable unto the said Ann Wade at the same Time or Times and in the same manner as the same should have been due and payable to me in Case I had been living and my Mind and Meaning is and I hereby order and direct that all or any Receipt or Receipts given by the said Ann Wade signed by her own Hand for any Money or Monies by her Received for her own proper use shall be a proper and sufficient Discharge for the same notwithstanding her Coverture and I do hereby nominate Mr Robert Nunn of Bungay aforesaid Bricklayer Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I do hereby authorise and impower him the said Robert Nunn or his Executor and Administrator or any of them at any convenient Time or

Times during the Life of the said Ann Wade at his or their own Will and Pleasure to enter into and upon the said bequeathed Premises to inspect the same and to see that the said Messuage and every part thereof and also all the Fences thereto belonging to be kept up and in good and Tenantable Repair and my Mind and Will is and I do hereby order and direct that from and after the Decease of the said Ann Wade I give the said Messuage or Tenement and all the Lands Hereditaments [Members?] Rights Privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging and appertaining to be sold and I do hereby authorise and impower my said Executor or his Executors or Administrators when and as soon as he or they shall see it proper and convenient after the Decease of the said Ann Wade to make Sale and disperse of the same to the best advantage and for the best Price that can be obtained for the same and the Money arising from the Sale of the said Premises I give to be by my Executor or his Executors or Administrators Equally divided between and paid unto George Sterry of Beccles in the County of Suffolk whitesmith my nephew Samuel Wade of Beccles aforesaid Carpenter and Sarah the Wife of John Nunn of Bungay aforesaid Cordwainer Son and Daughter of the said Ann Wade Share and Share alike But in Case any of the said legatees shall happen to die before the said Ann Wade shall depart this Life or before she or they shall have received his her or their respective Legacy or Share then I give the respective Legacy or Share of him or her so dying to be Equally divided among and paid unto the Survivors and lastly I do hereby revoke and make Void all former and other Wills by me at any Time heretofore made and do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness thereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained in this and the preceding sheet of Paper set my Hand and Seal that is to say my Hand to the Bottom of the said preceding Sheet of Paper and my Hand and seal to this last Sheet this Tenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety One -------

as such for his last Will and Testament in the Presence of
