LOWESTOFT, SUFFOLK, 1837
At Lowestoft the Eighteenth day January 1837 the within named Executors John Sterry and James Sterry were Sworn in due form of law.

Personal Estate worth under £1500 This will was proved at Lowestoft in the County of Suffolk on the eighteen day of January 1837 Before The Reverend Francis Cunningham Clerk Surrogate duly appointed of the Worshipful Henry Denny Berners - Clerk Bachelor of Law Commissary in and throughout the Archdeaconry of Suffolk lawfully constituted and administration of all and singular the goods rights chattels and credits of the within named John Sterry the Testator deceased was duly granted to John Sterry and James Sterry the Executors within named they being duly sworn and so forth - saving &c Effects worth under £1500

In the Name of God Amen. I, John Sterry Son of James Sterry of the Town of Lowestoft in the County of Suffolk being of Sound Mind & Memory so publish &declare this to be my last Will & Testament in the Manner following - first After my Deceace if my Wife be the longeth liveth continue the Business in all its Branches as my Executors may think proper for the Support of my Wife & the good of my family & the Benefit of my Creditors. Secondly if I be called away by Death first to sell my Dwelling House where we now reside & my Executors to provide her a Residence as they may think best with such of the Household Furniture as she may be Disposed to take with her & at her Deceace such Household Furniture be sold for the Benefit of my Children Thirdly after my Deceace I Bequeath to my Wife Mary Sterry the Sum of thirty Pounds per annum be Paid her Weekly by Instalments as long as her natural Life & at her Deceace the said Thirty Pounds to my Children John Sterry James Sterry Rob Sterry H Whatling Sterry Sarah Sterry.
Fourthly my last will his after the Deceace of myself & my Dear Wife's Deceace his for my Executors to Sell all my Property of whatsoever Nature & wheresoever found by Auction except the Fish Houses & Tan House with their Appertrances the Fishouss & Tan House & being under Mortgage I must leave them at the Judgment of my Executors but I hope they will still Remain with some of my Children not doutting but their be Lively Hood to be Obtained from them.
And lastly Whatsoever Money's may arise after the Sale of my Whole Property my Debts being Paid Mortgage & Moneys Borrowed Settled I John Sterry Son of James Sterry Bequeath to my Children in the following Manner first my Daughter Sarah Sterry to have twenty Pounds over her Equall Share.
John Sterry, James Sterry Robert Sterry H.W. Sterry these are my five surviving Children each share alike but my Daughter I Bequeath £20 more as above. I Appoint my Executors of this my last Will & Testament my Sons John Sterry & James Sterry this his my last Will & Testament
