In the name of God Amen. I Richard Sterre of Bury Seyne Edmunde thatcher with an whole and a good mynde beyng at Bury forsaid the xi th day of August the year of our lorde god 1492 make my testamente & last will in this manner folowyng. First I bequethe my soule to almighty god to my blessed lady seynt marie and to all the holy company of hevene and my to be buried in gifton(?) buriels. Itm I bequeth to the High Anghters(Alters?) in the church of our lady in Bury aforsaid in recompence of my dewties to holy church not paid and for the helth of my soule iiii d (pence). I bequethe to the seynt mary (pastor?) of the said church iiii d. Itm I bequethe to the High Anghter(Alter?) of Thurston vi d. Itm I bequethe to the chapells of our lady in Thurston church aforsaid iiii d. Itm I bequethe to Margete  my wife all my stuff of household. Item I will the said Margarete my wiff have her dwelling in my covenant the wiche I dwelle in during her lyve with this condicion that she may be abyll to pay my detts and fulfille this my present testament. And aft her desease I will the said covenant remayne to John my sone the yong if she may spare it. And if the said Margarete my wife may not ben abyll to pay my detts and fulfille this my testament than I will the said covenant be sold be the hands of Roger Cowper & John Wascolt(?) and of the money therof coming I will first myn detts be paid and my testamente fulfilled. And the residue of the same money I will it reste in the hands of the said Roger Cowper & John Wascolt(?) that if it fortune the said margarete my wyfe to come to poverty and have need I will the beholrsen(?) with the same as it lasteth. And if any mony remayne coming of the said covenant at the desease of the said margarete my wiff I will that the said John my sone gane it. And if he die or become of lawfull age I will the same & mony be dispersed for the wele of my soule the soule of the said margaret my wiff and all my friends soulys. The residue of all my goods not bequethed I geve and bequethe to the discretion of myn executors to dispose according to the most plesing of god and helth of my soule. Them I make and ordeyne myn executors the said Margarete my wiff Roger Cowper and John Wascolt. In to witnesse therof to thes _____ I geve unto my soulle these witnesse _____ Barker John Bayton John Spalding and others geven the day and the year above said.
