WILL OF RICHARD STERRY,
WESTBURY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, 1836

 
 This is the last Will and Testament of me RICHARD STERRY of the FLAT in the parish of Westbury upon Severn in the County of Gloucester yeoman First I direct limit and appoint give and devise unto my dear wife ELIZABETH STERRY all that my new built messuage or tenement with the garden and orchard therewith adjoining and belonging situate at the Flat in the parish of Westbury upon Severn aforesaid and now in the occupation of myself and son with their and every of their appurtenances To hold unto my said wife and her assigns during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after the decease of my said wife I direct limit and appoint give devise and bequeath my said messuage or tenement garden orchard and premises unto my son WILLIAM STEPRY his heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless and I do hereby charge the said messuage garden orchard and premises with the payment of the sum of twenty pounds unto my daughter ELIZABETH OLIVE to be paid within twelve months after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath unto my wife the use of all my household goods and furniture during her life and after her decease I give my best oak table and also my best bed and bedstead, one pair of sheets one quilt unto my said daughter ELIZABETH OLIVE I also give all the rest and residue of my household goods and furniture (from and after the decease of my said wife) and all other my personal estate and effects whatsoever subject to my debts and funeral expenses unto my said son WILLIAM whom I do hereby appoint sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this tenth day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixteen

Signed sealed published and declared by the said RICHARD STERRY as and for his last Will and Testament in the persones of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses hereto

The 20th February 1836

On which day appeared personally WILLIAM STERRY and alleged upon oath that the foregoing paperwriting contains the last Will and Testament of RICHARD STERRY late of the Flat in the parish of Westbury upon Severn in the County and Diocese of Gloucester yeoman who died on or about the 22nd day of August 1835 without having altered or revoked the same leaving goods chattels and credits wholly within the Diocese of Gloucester under the value of twenty pounds. That he will well and faithfully perform the same and render an inventory and account.

Sworn under £20 before me. Wherefore he prayed probate

(Richard Sterry is on the Longhope line. He was baptised 1733 at Westbury on Severn and died 22nd Aug 1835 at Westbury on Severn. He married Elizabeth Robbins.)
