WILL OF WILLIAM STERRY,
GLOUCESTER, 1839

 
This is the last Will and Testament of WILLIAM STERRY of the Bearland in the Parish of Saint Nicholas in the City of Gloucester a coach proprietor. I give and bequeath to my Wife ANN STERRY al my coaches, flys, omnibus and other carriages with the horses and harnes thereunto belonging, book debts, household goods and furniture, plate linen and china and all other my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what kind soever for her own absolute use and benefit and I hereby nominate and appoint JOHN CALTON of the City of Gloucester Gentleman Executor, and my said wife Executrix of this my will dated the twenty fourth day of April one thousand eight hundred and thirty eight.

Signed, sealed, published, and declared as and for the last Will and Testament of the said WILLIAM STERRY in the presence of us who, in his presence, and in the presence of each other, have hereunto set our hands as witnesses thereto on the day of the date above written -

On which day appeared personally JOHN CALTON of the City of Gloucester Gentleman and ANN STERREY of the same City widow STAN BENNET Manufacturer and alleged upon oath that the foregoing paperwriting contains the last Will and Testament of WILLIAM STERREY late of the said City of Gloucester Coach Proprietor deceased who died on the 23rd day of July 1838 leaving Goods Chattels and Credits wholly within the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol under the value of Four Hundred and fifty pounds That they the Executor and Executrix named in the said Will that they will well and faithfully perform the same and render an Inventory and Account. Wherefore they prayed probate.

Sworn under £450 before me. Let probate pass.

(William Sterry  was born abt 1780 and died 23rd July 1838. He married Ann Tucker and Mary Ann Bowsher. He belongs to the Longhope line.)
