WILL OF SAMUEL STERRY,
SURREY, 1770
In the Name of God Amen
I Samuel Sterry of the parish of Wandsworth in the County of Surry Waterman
being mindful of the frailty of human nature and that it is appointed unto all
men __ to die but considering the uncertainty of the same being of a sound and
disposing mind memory and understanding do make and declare this to be my last
Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say ffirst and principally
I commit my Soul into the hands of Almighty God and my body to the Earth there
to be decently buried according to the direction of my Executor here after named
and as concerning such temporal goods and Estate wherewith God hath blessed
me with ___ and dispose thereof as follows first I will that all my just debts
and funeral expenses be paid and discharged and my will is to be buried as my
son was with ___ and coach and to be buried by my son. Also I give and bequeath
to Amy Richardson four pounds four shillings a year and yearly every year by
quarterly payments during her natural life and the same to be paid quarterly
by my Executor out of my Estate and ___. Also I give and bequeath to the said
Amy Richardson the sum of one pound and shilling to be paid her on the day of
my death for mourning by my Executor. All the rest residue and remainder of
my Estate freehold leasehold and all my wearing apparel money plate household
goods and furniture whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath unto my brother
Nuce Sterry and none other And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my
said loving brother Nuce Sterry full and sole executor of this my last Will
and Testament and none other making void all former Will or Wills by me at any
time made In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the seventeenth
day of October in the sixth(?) year of Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the
Third by the grace of God of Great Britain Ffrance and Ireland King Defender
of the Faith and so forth and in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred
and sixty nine. Samuel Sterry Signed Sealed published and declared by the within
named Testator Samuel Sterry to and for his last Will and Testament in the presence
of us who have signed our names in the said Testators presence and at his request

This Will was proved at London the fifth day of ffebruary in the
year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy before the Worshipful
Andrew Coltee Ducarel Doctor of Laws and Surrogate of the Right Worshipful George
Hay Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
lawfully constituted by the oath of Nuce Sterry the brother of the deceased
and sole executor named in the said Will to whom administration was granted
of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the said deceased he having
been first sworn duly to administer.
