WILL OF WASEY STERRY,
ESSEX, 1790

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Wasey Sterry of Magdalen Laver in the county of Essex clerk ffirst I give and bequeath to my dear wife Eleonora such and so much of my household goods ffurniture plate and linen as shall amount in value to the sum of two hundred pounds and if the whole thereof shall not be of the full value of two hundred pounds I give and bequeath to her out of my personal estate such sum of money as will make up the deficiency agreable to the terms of a covenant from me in the settlement made upon our marriage and in all other respects I ratify and confirm the said settlement and subject thereto and subject to the payment of my just debts ffuneral and other incident charges I give and bequeath to my three children by my former wife namely Benja'n Wasey Thomas Johnson and Samuel Henry all and singular my messuages lands tenements tythes annuities hereditaments and estates whatsoever and wheresoever either in possession or reversion or in or to which I am any ways interested or intitled or of which any person or persons is or are seized to my use or in trust for me both ffreehold copyhold customary and leasehold and also all the rest residue and remainder of my goods chattels monies effects and personal estate whatsoever to hold to them my said three sons Benjamin Wasey Thomas Johnson and Samuel Henry their heirs executors or administrators and assigns respectively for ever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and I hereby make nominate constitute and appoint my two friends John Collin Gentleman and Joseph Colh____ Tanner both of Saffron Waldon Executors of this my Will and Testament and Guardians of my said three children both as to their persons and estates until they shall respectively attain the age of twenty one years and hereby revoking all former and other will and wills by me at any time heretofore made do publish and declare this to be my last In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty eighth day of June in the year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy six - Wasey Sterry Signed sealed and published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who in his presence and at his request have subscribed our hands as witnesses J Sanderzee Wm Randle John Carter

On the sixteenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety administration with the will annexed of all and singular the goods chattels and credits of the Reverand Wasey Sterry late of Magdalen Laver in the county of Essex clerk deceased was granted to Benjamin Wasey Sterry the son of the deceased and one of the residuary legatees named in the said will having been first sworn duly to administer.
