WILL OF JOHN STERREY, OF LEINSTALL
STARKES, HEREFORDSHIRE, 1650

 

I John Sterrey of Leynthall Starkes and countie of Hereford Bachelor being sick in body but perfect in remembrance doe make this my last will and testament as followeth I do bequeath my soule into the handes of my maker and redeemer and my bodie to be interred in celestiall buriall And as touching my personall estate which the Lord hath lent mee Imprimis I give and bequeath unto John White three pounds due by bond the which hee doe owe unto me which said bond is in the hand of John Dale(?) Likewise I give and bequeath unto John White foure pounds for to discharge my funeral expenses Likewise I doe give and bequeath unto Thomas Varnolls clerke twentie shillings due by bond which said bond is in the custodie of the said John Dale Lastlie I doe constitute and appointe John White my full and whole executor to see this my last will and testament fulfilled and funerall expenses discharged In wittnes I have hereunto put to my hand and seale the eight day of ffebruary Anno dominis 1649 John Sterrey his marke Thomas Benison William Prince Tho. Probatum fuit testamentum suprascriptum apud London coram venerabile viro domino Nathaniele Brent milito legum doctore curia prerogativa magro(?) sive(?) custode tme(?) constituto viresimo nono die mensis Aprilis anno domini millmo sexesmmo quinquagesimo testamento Johannis Whyte executoris in __(?) testamento nominat cui comissa fuit administrato omnium et singulorum bonorum iurium et heditorum dieta(?) defuncti de bono et fideliter administrando eadem ad sancta dei evangelia rugore corum(?) ___(?) in ea parto atd tmanata(?) jurat(?)

This will was proved at London before the Worshipful Nathaniel Brent military Doctor of Laws Master Keeper Commisary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted on the twenty nonth day of April in the year of our lord one thousand six hundred and fifty by the oath of John Whyte executor named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular goods chattels and credits he having been first sworn duly to administer on the holy Gospel of God.
