WILL OF JOHN STERRY OF SURREY,
'H.M.S. CORONATION', 1691
Know all men by these presente that I John Sterry of St Mary Overs in the County of Surry Shipwt (Shipwright) belonging to their Majties Shipp Coronation have constituted and made my honoured mother Elizabeth Sterry of the said parish and county aforesaid widdow my true and lawfull Attorney to aske demand recover and receive for me and in my name and to my use as well all money payable to me pursuant to their Majties Declaration of the twenty third of May Eighty Nine and all and singular such wages same and sumes of money as now is or att any time hereafter shall grow unto me for my owne service or otherwise in any of his Majties Shipps ffriggotts or vessells or any Merchant Shipp or Shipps as alsoe all and singular such rent arrearages(?) of rent sume and sumes of money as now is or att any time hereafter shall be and unto use by or from any person or persons whatsoever either by lease bill bond account writing contract word or promise or otherwise howsoever and moreover in my name but for my owne proper use to devise grant and lett unto any person or persons as to my Attorney aforesaid shall seeme meet and convenient all orany of my Lands, Tenements or Hereditaments whatsoever for such time or terms of yeares by lease in writing or otherwise and with such reservations of rent limittations provisos xr covenants as my said Attorney shall think fitt and expedient and one Atorney or more under her and att her pleasure to sett substitute and revoake giveing and granting to my said Attorney my full power and Attorney generally to act and doe in or about the premises what shall be requesite and necessary to be done as fully and effectually as if I my selfe were personally present att the doeing thereof ratifying and alowing all and whatsoever my said Attorney for me and in my name and to my use shall doe or cause to be done in the premises by virtue of these presents and I the said John Sterry considering the uncertainty of this transitory life doe hereby make and declare these presents to containe my last Will and Testament that is to say all such wages sume and sumes of money goods chattles and estates whatsoever after my just debts fully satisifyed and funerall charges if any paid I doe give and devise and bequeath unto my said mother Elizabeth Sterry and hereby nominate and appointe my said mother Elizabeth Sterry and hereby nominate and appointe my said mother Elizabeth Sterry my sole Executrix and hereby revoakeing all former Wills and Legacyes by mee att any time made given or bequeathed my mind and will is that these presents shall stand and abide as my onlytrue and last Will and Testament for ever wittness my hand and seale this sixth of feburary anno dni one thousand six hundred ninety Anno qb(?) regni regis et regina Gulielm et Maria zr secimdo(?) Magri Custodis sive Comissarii ltime constitut primo die mensis Octobris Anno Dni Millesimo Septencessimo Nonagesimo primo testamento Elizabethae Sterry matris dci desti et Executritis in dicto Testamento nominat cui comissa fuit administrato omnium et singulorum bonorum jurium et heditorum dti defti de bono et fideliter administrand eadem ad Sancta Dei Evangelia jurat
This will was proved at London before the Worshipful Thomas Pinfold military Doctor of Laws Surrogate of the Venerable and Distinguished Richard Raines military Doctor of Laws Master Keeper Commisary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted on the first day of October in the year of our lord one thousand six hundred and ninety one by the oath of Elizabeth Sterry mother and Executrix named in the said will to whom administration was granted of all and singular goods chattels and credits she having been first sworn duly to administer on the holy Gospel of God.
