Obituary Frank Bernard Sterry Died 1 March 2007

Frank Sterry PORTSMOUTH -- Frank Sterry, 72, died on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Edgeworth Centre in Portsmouth. Born in Portsmouth on March 13, 1934, he was the son of the late John and Sarah (Randal) Sterry. He was a graduate of Portsmouth High School class of 1952. He then served in the U.S. Navy and was discharged in 1956. He continued his education at Bentley College graduating in 1959.

Mr. Sterry was employed for many years as a financial accountant with International Telephone and Telegraph Company in New York City until illness caused him to retire and move back to Portsmouth. He was a communicant of St. Catherine of Siena Church.

He enjoyed painting and time spent with his fmaily.

Survivors include his sister Pauline Centrella and husband Frank of Somerville, Mass.; brothers Arthur Sterry of Coral Springs, Fla. and Paul Sterry and wife Charmaine of Buffalo, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Weaver and his brother William Richard Sterry.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine Church on Wednesday at 9.30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Farrell Funeral Home 684 State St., Portsmouth, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Obituary Alice M Drake nee Sterry Died 14 August 2006

DOVER -- Alice M. (Sterry) Drake, 93, of Bay View Road, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. Born at Fort Andrews (Mass.) Army Base on Oct. 7, 1912, the daughter of John William and Mary Ellen (Horgan) Sterry, she was a former resident of Portsmouth and came to Dover in 1935. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School and Keene Normal School. She was a very active person, receiving the Merit Ward in 1944 from the State Council of Defense as captain of the Dover Canteen Unit.

She worked as an accountant at the former Sawyer's Mill Factory Outlet and with her husband at Drake's Motor Sales. Mrs. Drake was a member of St. Joseph Church.

The widow of Everett C. Drake, who died in 1987, she is survived by her sons, William E. Drake and his wife, Patricia, of Dover, and Donald E. Drake and his wife, Muriel, of Wilson Mills, Maine; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Rev. Ernest Drake and his wife, Cynthia, of Rye; a sister-in-law, Betty Galt, of Dover; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, her brothers, John Sterry and Robert Sterry, predeceased her.

WE REMEMBER: A member of Keene State College Golden Circle Alumni, she had been a den mother for St. Mary's Cub Scouts for five years. She was a former member of Sawyer's Extension Home Makers, Dover Women's Club, Pioneer Garden Club and the Golden Age Club of Portsmouth.

SERVICES: Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, 150 Central Ave., Dover. Burial will follow in Pine Hill cemetery. Obituary John Frank Sterry Died 21 November 1999

John Frank Sterry

PORTSMOUTH - John Frank Sterry, 92, of 108 Meadow Road, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999, at his home.

Born Dec. 28, 1906, in Cambridge, Mass., he was the eldest son of John and Mary (Horgan) Sterry. He attended St. Patrick School and Portsmouth High School. He was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 22 years and the Brooklyn, N.Y., Navy Yard for nine years. He retired in 1975 after 15 years of employment with the city of Brooklyn.

He returned to Portsmouth in 1982 to enjoy his retirement years. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church.

He was the husband of Sarah Jeannette (Randall) Sterry for 74 years. In addition to his wife, survivors include a sister, Alice Drake of Dover; two daughters, Mary J. Weaver of Shawnee, Kan., and Pauline N. Centrella of Somerville, Mass.; three sons, Arthur F. Sterry of Coral Springs, Fla., Paul Sterry of Buffalo, N.Y., and Frank B. Sterry of Portsmouth; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, William R. Sterry, in 1996, and a brother, Robert Sterry.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday November 24 at St Catherine Church and he was buried in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth.

Obituary Sarah Jeanette Sterry Died 28 December 2000

PORTSMOUTH - Sarah Jeannette Sterry, 93, of 108 Meadow Road, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her home.

Born Nov. 10, 1907, in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of Arthur and Suzy (Littlefield) Randall and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church.

The widow of John Frank Sterry, she is survived by three sons, Arthur Sterry and his wife, Pauline, of Coral Springs, Fla.; Paul Sterry and his wife, Charmaine, of Kenmore, N.Y.; and Frank B. Sterry of Portsmouth; two daughters, Mary Weaver and her husband, Phillip, of Shawnee, Kan.; and Pauline Centrella and her husband, Frank, of Somerville, Mass.; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, William Sterry; a brother, Judson Randall; a sister, Arlene Randall; and a half-brother, Jack Beesley.

Pauline Louise Sterry nee Moore Died 24 May 2002

  Pauline Louise Sterry Coral Springs, Fla. -- Pauline Louise Sterry, 71, died Friday, May 24, 2002 at the Coral Springs Medical Center.

Born December 31, 1930 in Exeter, N. H. , she was the daughter of Melvin and Dorothy (Wilson) Moore and hadresided in Hampton for some 20 years. A graduate of Hampton Academy, class of 1948, a member of theDrama Club, Varsity Basketball team, Cheerleading group and Drum Majorette corp. She donated many hours, over the years, to the Habilitation Center for the Handicapped in Boca Raton, Fla.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Arthur F. Sterry and four sons, Steven Sterry and his wife Patricia, of Lockport, N.Y. ; Scott Sterry and his wife Judith, of Webster N.Y.; Barry Sterry and his wife Heather, of Beaconsfield, U.K. ; Christopher Sterry of Coral Springs, Fla.; and four grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Arnold Moore.

Obituary Mary "Jean" Weaver nee Sterry Died 8 Aug 2002

Shawnee, Kan.. -- Mary Jean Weaver, 75, of Shawnee, died Thursday, Aug 8, 2002 at the Overland Park Regional Medical Centre.

She was born Aug. 14, 1926, in Portsmouth, N.H., to John F. and Sarah J (Randall) Sterry. She met Phil Weaver while he was in the service in Portsmouth. They were married April 2, 1947, while Phil attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence. She especially enjoyed theater, musical events and their grandchildren's activities.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, survivors include three sons, Jerry E. Weaver and his wife, Janice, of Overland Park, Timothy C. Waever and his wife, Sherri, of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Steven J. Weaver and his wife Kellie, of Merriam, Kan.; three brothers, Arthur Sterry of Coral Springs, Fla., Paul Sterry of Buffalo, N.Y., and Frank Sterry of Portsmouth, N.H.; a sister, Pauline Centrilla of Somerville, Mass.; and five grandchildren, Bryan Weaver, Melissa Hedberg, Jason Weaver, Aaron Weaver and Ryan Weaver.

Arrangements are by the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.
